Pollyanna McIntosh
Pollyanna McIntosh was born in Portugal
and Colombia But she returned to Scotland where she started performing on the
stage at The Edinburgh Festival. She moved to London at the age of 16 and soon
became involved with indie filmmaking. The first time she was paid was working
as a stoner in Irvine Welsh's The Acid House (1998). She also worked as an
actress and a director in theatre. In 2004, she moved to Los Angeles to direct
"The Woolgatherer" the play which Anne Dudek (a regular guest on Mad Men
(2007)/Big Love (2006)) was directed. The play was praised by critics. In
Headspace (2005) she was offered her first US movie part as "Stacy"
as a manipulative person who was a newly-baptized Christian. It was as the wild
"Thumper Wint" in the comedy Sex and Death 101 (2007) (Simon Baker
and Winona Ryder) directed from Heathers (1988) writer Daniel Waters, that the
critics began to take note of her talent, noting her unique mix of powerful
sexuality and hilarious humor. Exam (2009) that was the first, in which she was
in London and LA was the next. BAFTA-nominated for Outstanding British Debut
and winner at the Santa Barbara Film Fest of Best Independent, Pollyanna's
performance was "smart and sassy in equal parts the heart of the
film" and her ability to appreciate the "emotional
vulnerability" of her strong and sassy character. GQ simply stated
"stunning Pollyanna McIntosh is an exceptionally skilled actress".
Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ) is a South
American comedy in which she plays the angry wife of Trevor Lock, a Brit
comedian. Shot in Peru and she is Spanish throughout. John Landis directed
Burke and Hare (2010). She is Isla Fisher's bestie along with Andy Serkis and
Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry and Tom Wilkinson. Lucky McKee's The
Woman (2011) was an immense success. The film received rave reviews and was a
top pick in the New York Times readers' favorite movies poll. In recognition of
her performance, she received three Best Actress awards, including Total Film's
Frightfest Award and Fright Meter's.
